It may be nearly two decades, (wow!) since I have kept a diary... and while I have long outgrown the pink flowered notebook that I poured my 12 year old heart into, I don't think I'll ever outgrow the need to express myself freely. For those of you who know me personally, I'm sure you'll agree that I almost always have an opinion, and will almost always make it known... But a diary is more than a personal sounding board, it's a confidant - silent while you share your thoughts and brutally honest when consulted for future reflection. It's funny, though most of us stop keeping a diary while we still have acne and a curfew, the concept of recording the days of your life for later reflection, as a means to personal growth is actually, quite gown up.
It's interesting, how perspective can be gained just by putting a thought into words and onto paper...
Words are powerful.
It is an amazing gift to be able to communicate something as complicated as an emotion or an experience using a combination of words... Or, even more amazingly, with a single word...
So, in honor of the girlie notebooks that chronicle my youth, I've decided to get with the times, and put my love of words to use here on my blog: Being Jen Jenkins. And while this "diary" won't be a collection of juicy secrets and gossip, it will be a reflection of who I am...and I suspect I'll have just as much fun today, as I did in my adolescence.
This blog is dedicated to the people, places and things that make me tick.
